March Madness
not so much college basketball
but more,
the ineffable experience of falling in love

monomaniacal
rapid pulse
heart on your sleeve

and the hope
that love
won’t leave you
as an April Fool

    The March hare may be mad
    but not in love

    Ask next spring if the feeling
    outlasted boxing day.

    Until then, protect your heart.
    If you wear it on your sleeve, 
    put on a coat.
