Under a Red Umbrella

Rain.
+ underexposed images
grays, muted browns
washed together with
little aesthetic appeal

Red.
A single umbrella,
perhaps a skirt, or bright boots
Dancing through the landscape
laughing, calling us out

Redress.
The beauty of the day
is palpable, but requires coaxing
she has hidden herself
& waits for you to call

Go now, fetch your imagination
use your outside voice
smile in anticipation
She will reward your joy
reward your optimism, with a kiss
laughing,
under a red umbrella

Who wouldn’t want to know this girl. Who needs amazing conversations when you can write a monologue like this?
